Where the time was going.

Skilled accountants spent hours keying numbers off statements, invoices, and receipts into the accounting suite. It was clerical work done by expensive people, and it was directly cannibalizing billable hours, especially in busy season.

Reporting was the second drain. The same packages were rebuilt by hand every month, and any late document meant re-doing work.
