One maintenance window, every lesson rebooked. Feathers flight-school operations platform.
Feathers runs a flight school's whole operation on four interlocking calendars, with a one-click rescheduler, aviation weather guards keyed to each student's limits, and maintenance that grounds aircraft on its own.
Client background
Feathers is flight-school operations software, built by Internal Automation as its own product, covering the aircraft, instructors, students, and maintenance a school runs every day.
Business challenge
A flight school schedules four things that all depend on each other. Move any one and the other three have to move with it, which is why the job usually belongs to whoever is best at holding a whiteboard in their head.
The failure is not the scheduling, it is the cascade. An aircraft goes into maintenance on a Tuesday and every lesson booked on it becomes a phone call, made by someone who also has a school to run.
Delivering the solution
All four calendars run as a single schedule with month, week, and day views across the fleet and staff, recurring lessons, and self-service student booking.
The rescheduler is the part that earns its keep. Declare a maintenance window and the system generates alternative slots that already honor business hours and instructor availability, so a grounded aircraft becomes a list of options instead of an afternoon on the phone.
Two guards run underneath. Real aviation forecasts are pulled per airport for the next 24 hours of bookings, with wind alerts keyed to each individual student's limits, and maintenance grounds aircraft automatically when inspections come due, backed by squawk reporting, an airworthiness-directive library, and mechanic sign-off.
A syllabus builder per certificate and rating, document storage for licenses and medicals, and billing statements complete the operation. A working importer migrates a school off its incumbent platform with schedules, people, and history intact, which is the part that decides whether a school can actually leave.
Feathers Launches Flight-School Operations Platform With Automated Rescheduling and Weather Guards
Aircraft, instructor, student, and maintenance calendars run as one schedule, with aviation forecasts checked against individual student limits. Built by Internal Automation.
KAILUA-KONA, HI · October 29, 2026 · Feathers, a flight-school operations platform built by Internal Automation, has launched with aircraft, instructor, student, and maintenance scheduling consolidated into a single system.
When a maintenance window is declared, the platform generates alternative lesson slots that respect business hours and instructor availability, replacing the manual rescheduling that a grounded aircraft normally requires.
The system retrieves aviation weather forecasts per airport for the following 24 hours of bookings and issues wind alerts calibrated to each individual student's limitations. Maintenance tracking grounds aircraft automatically when inspections fall due, and includes squawk reporting, an airworthiness-directive library, and mechanic sign-off.
The platform also provides a syllabus builder per certificate and rating, document storage for licenses and medical certificates, and billing statements. An importer migrates schools from incumbent platforms with schedules, personnel records, and history preserved.
Feathers is an Internal Automation product.
