When a popular trainer gets pulled for a surprise 100-hour inspection, someone at the school spends half an hour cross-referencing aircraft availability, instructor schedules, each student's lesson type and wind limitations, then rebooks the week one call at a time. The incumbent tools hold the data; none of them hold the constraints.

Smart scheduling

Month, week, and day views across the fleet and the staff, recurring lessons, self-service student booking, calendar sync, and confirmations that send themselves.

The one-click rescheduler

Declare a maintenance window and the system generates alternative slots that honor business hours, instructor availability, and each student's constraints, then rebooks the affected lessons in a batch.

The weather guard

Real aviation forecasts pulled per airport for the next 24 hours of bookings, with wind alerts keyed to each student's personal limitations before they drive to the field.

Maintenance that grounds itself

Squawk reporting, automatic grounding when inspections come due, an airworthiness-directive library, mechanic signatures, and the FAA 100-hour inspection digitized as a working checklist of roughly 150 line items.

Training and billing

A syllabus builder per certificate and rating, document storage for licenses and medicals, and statements that collect themselves through card payment and accounting sync.

The escape hatch

A working importer migrates a school off the incumbent platform, schedules, people, and history, and invites every student and instructor automatically. Switching costs an afternoon, not a season.

How we built it.

Feathers is a Next.js platform on a hardened Postgres backend, 37 tables and roughly 82,000 lines of application code, with Stripe for payments, accounting integration for invoicing, and live aviation weather wired into the booking layer. The scheduling engine treats regulations and limitations as first-class data, which is exactly what the spreadsheet era could not do.

Results.

The half-hour, seven-step reschedule is one click. Inspections ground aircraft before a student ever books them, weather flags a lesson before anyone drives to the airport, and the whole operation, scheduling through billing, reads from one system the school owns.
